Lawrence Hargrave School – Mural
This huge mural was a project that the Aboriginal students at the school were involved with. After consultation with the students this great concept was formed. The space is used as a quiet space, to sit, calm and reflect. The students used the design concept of a mandala and incorporated their own animal totems. The students came up with positive words that they could read while that sat to reflect.
Following my involvement with the students, the school invited local primary schools to come add their hand prints to the mural also. What a great inclusive community idea, that’s solely facilitated by the students. This bold mural turned this old dull space into an area in the school they were proud of, the surrounding schools had connection to and that is now functional as well.
